Do you want to build a beautiful Minecraft barn to complement your aesthetic theme in Survival world mode?

A well-built barn comes in handy for all sorts of purposes from keeping your animals protected from the elements to storing their feed and bales of hay.
So I’ve put together 32 awesome designs for every sort of player — from medieval barns and aesthetic barns to rustic barns and everything in between.
There are plenty of different ways you can build one, of course. But first check out this list of the best Minecraft barn ideas that you can replicate within your game.
1 – Aesthetic Barn

I do enjoy a build with an interior that is as carefully considered as the exterior. This aesthetic barn by Croissant Cat is one such design.
Not only does it look beautiful from the outside, the interior is done up in an attractive manner too.
The entire structure is enclosed in a double-high fence, but it still allows for plenty of space for your animals to roam around.
There are a few enclosed pens under the barn roof, as well as a loft with tons of storage for your animal feed and what not. Why would anyone say “no” to this pretty and functional design?
2 – Large Animal Barn and Hen House

Check out the blueprints for this large animal barn and hen house. It is so thoughtfully crafted, you could easily customize it to make it larger or smaller to fit your needs.
And you would still be able to retain the creative vision of the builder, YouTuber Zaypixel.
I just love such simple and impressive designs. The central area of the building can be used for storage, while either side holds animal pens.
Across from this is a hen house that is in complete harmony with the entire design. It does not look like an afterthought.
What more could you ask from such an elegant build?
3 – Simple Barn

Minecraft players who are fairly new to it can opt for a simple barn like this one by SheepGG which can be built over a 23 x 17 block area foundation.
Despite being very easy to build, this simple barn includes everything from stables to house animals inside, beds for sleeping, ample storage chests, and much more.
The yellow lanterns placed along the exterior and even the interior of the barn lend it a nice aesthetic touch. Simple barns like these generally include just one level.
But the interior has some space reserved for small-scale farming as well; so that’s a great way to ensure there’s enough food at hand for you and your many animals.
4 – Animal Barn with Windmill

If you always fancied having having a windmill on your farmhouse, here’s a barn build that includes a tutorial for erecting a windmill beside it.
This two-story building also has an attached stable for your horses, which is pretty neat touch.
You will need plenty of oak, spruce and cobblestone blocks to complete this barn.
It’s not a difficult project to take on even in your Survival world considering how easy it is to acquire the construction materials you will need.
5 – Large Medieval Barn

In case you’re going for the medieval aesthetic, check out this large, ancient-looking barn by YouTuber Ei Natsu.
Across from the gorgeously designed barn with a loft, sits a separate chicken coop separate by a water feature.
You’re probably asking us what a pond with a bridge is doing in the middle of these stomping grounds. I’m not sure, but it looks nice.
You need logs, planks, stairs and slabs in huge numbers to complete this build. But I trust the results will be worth it.
6 – Fairycore Cherry Blossom Barn

If you’re going for cottagecore or fairycore Minecraft builds, this animal barn design is for you.
It uses cherry wood, white concrete and white terracotta for the structure. These materials are really not hard to come by even in Survival worlds.
There is a lot of room for storage inside and the attached animal pens are well-ventilated since they open out to the sky.
Do take a look at the video above by creator Polar Cat if you want to know how easy it will be to construct.
7 – Romantic Old Barn

Would you tall and airy barn with plenty of space of your animals and more storage than you’ll probably ever need?
Check out this romantic old build by YouTuber BlueNerd. It’s all brick and wood, which means you won’t have to struggle to gather everything in the supplies list.
There’s even a “pulley system” out front so you can load lift all the stuff you want to put in storage directly to the loft area.
If you like the design, check out the how-to video above to build one for yourself.
8 – Cute Mini Barn

This cute mini barn with a brick silo by Zaypixel on YouTube is impossible to ignore! I can’t decide whether I like the interior or the exterior the most.
The inside is all solid wooden pillars and beams. There is an upper floor with a basic work station and a lot of storage space.
The creator has put a lot of consideration into the deliberately messy (and charming) decor – hanging cobwebs, mushrooms sprouting here and there, broken floorboards and bales of hay here and there.
The main structure is mostly wood, a few cobber slabs and deepslate.
9 – Peaceful Barn

This second candidate comes from a video tutorial by TMC and is called a peaceful barn for no other reason than the fact that the clip uses serene music in the background.
You just need to collect stone and wood to erect this large and airy barn. The loft functions as a mini-granary and food processing facility. It also has a detached, covered area for animal pens on one side.
I’m not sure if I’d want to put a chimney and smokers in a highly flammable setup such as this. But it has its practical uses.
It’s one of those customizable Minecraft barn designs that have room for all types of livestock and also boast of all the needed amenities.
10 – Animal House with Egg Farm & Horse Pen

This barn may look small, but it’s really cool and functional.
It has chicken coops, each containing an automated egg farm, and an L-shaped loft for storage. There are closed as well as open pens for sheep, pigs, cows, horses and so on.
There’s an open storage area which is protected from the elements by a sloped roof and the side of the barn with the horse pen opens up to the sky so that they can graze under the sun.
But it’s not just the practical aspects of this barn that make it so awesome. YouTuber Gorillo has infused it with many interesting design details too that you really need to see to appreciate.
11 – Rustic Barn

Do you like the idea of building a solid old barn that looks like it’s been around for decades?
A solid wood and brick number that has been patched up numerous times over the years; one that has been able to proudly withstand the elements?
Then takes notes from this tutorial by Cryptozoology. The design is simple, yet effective. You can scale it up or down, according to your needs.
This rustic barn requires materials that you can obtain easily in a Survival world. So it would not be tough to build at all.
12 – Multi-Purpose Barn

Here’s a multi-purpose barn designed with a rustic bedroom at the top, in case you’re ever caught caring for the animals as the sun goes down.
It’s built out of stone and wood and features a tall, sloping roof design. Apart from housing a bed, the loft area also has space for a work room and mini library.
There’s a quaint, messy look to the exterior in spite of the carefully tended flowers and bushes placed around it.
If you’d like to erect this barn in your Survival game, check out the above YouTube tutorial by Gorillo.
13 – Large Aesthetic Animal Barn

Check out this wood, brick and granite number by LennyRandom on YouTube.
It’s a massive structure with a romantic old charm to it. Perhaps it’s the red brick and granite walls.
Or it might be the classic sloping roof and its lofty ceiling.
The how-to video above only shows you how to erect the main structure. You can personalize the outside according to your aesthetic.
14 – Cottagecore Barn

I love this pretty little barn by Croissant Cat that has flowers sprouting from its rooftop. It’s cute, it’s whimsical, it’s just what fans of the cottagecore aesthetic need.
All the pens are designed in a way that lets your animal friends decide whether they want to be inside or grazing under the open sky.
It’s one of the best features of this build, according to us.
There is no loft area. But you could add one that runs all around the edges of the ceiling, if you wanted to.
15 – Simple Minecraft Survival Barn

If you prefer a “no fuss” build for your livestock that is more than just a fenced open ground, this is the barn for you!
It is ridiculously simple to construct and requires widely available Minecraft blocks like wood and stone.
Take a look at the tutorial video by Melthie – you’ll see that its footprint basically consists of a giant square patch of land.
That’s extremely easy to scale up or down according to your needs. Most of the roof is made out of slabs, with only the central part of it requiring a little more attention to detail.
16 – Barn And Farm Combo

If you enjoy farming and animal husbandry in Minecraft, there’s this wonderful barn idea for you to try.
It reserves space for farming right outside the barn design itself.
This means that along with an aesthetic animal barn, you also get the means to provide them and yourself with ample food.
And it is one of those large Minecraft barn ideas that will take time to craft.
Watch SidioMC give you a step-by-step video tutorial on how to build this barn design in the clip below.
After you’re done building it, you’ll definitely find yourself staring at it from time to time. That’s how beautiful the design is.
17 – Classic Red Barn

A build by Fresh Joy, the next pick in my barn ideas list is defined by its color combination.
The tall-standing barn includes pens for holding multiple animals like horses, cows, chickens, llamas, goats and pigs.
The barn also contains storage space and an anvil in the back for any of your farm life needs. Check out the video tutorial above.
18 – Stone Barn

Here’s a barn design that relies mostly on stone for its structure.
This elegant animal house has ample space for whatever activity you want to perform in it.
It includes a cooking station, a horse stable, a cow pen, and plenty of upstairs storage as well.
Apart from plain old stone, this build by TheMythicalSausage needs stone bricks, stripped spruce logs, planks, and more.
Do note that this is not an easy build. Despite its relatively small size, it has been built in a very intricate manner and requires some concentration to understand its structure and recreate it in your game.
But one thing is for sure – it’s an incredibly enjoyable process to build this barn in Minecraft.
19 – Medieval Barn

This ultimate barn by Random Steve Guy is for history buffs who are particularly fond of structures from the Dark Ages.
It is one of the more interesting ideas I found during my search. The medieval barn has a few horse stable areas, which means you can keep multiple horses ready to take with you on your next adventure.
It barn also features detailed interiors with great lighting. I’d recommend this barn to anyone who has experience in large Minecraft builds.
Like most Minecraft stable ideas, this one too relies heavily on spruce and other wood blocks to give itself an authentic color palette.
But you can also experiment with other blocks for a personalized color combination of your own.
20 – Giant Barn

If none of the above barn ideas excites you, go for this giant barn that will surely challenge your skills. It’s yet another build in my list from TheMythicalSausage.
This large but beautiful barn is a really complex build though.
You will need to watch the video tutorial multiple times to understand how you can go about with your own reconstruction of it.
21 – Small Barn

Next on my roster is a small barn that’s ideal to erect in the Survival mode of the game.
This small barn doesn’t take much time to build and doesn’t require you to forage many resources as well.
Yet, it’s incredibly effective if you wish to rear a couple of animals of different types. It houses a horse stable and a cattle pen.
The animal barn comes from LTA Tutorial, who gives detailed instructions on how to build it in the video tutorial posted below.
So the next time someone asks you for some easy Minecraft barn ideas, make sure to point them towards this cute Minecraft barn.
22 – Large Barn

This video tutorial by Keralis will help you build a large barn to house your horses and other animals. Spruce and oak logs are the primary materials used for building the structure.
The best part about this barn idea is that once you start building it, you can adapt it according to your liking and use other materials that suit your vision the best.
If you want to rear a lot of critters at once, this animal barn is a great idea.
Do note that it’s a pretty taxing build. So be prepared to spend hours and hours on it.
23 – Stone And Wood Barn

This build by Mr Mirror combines a stone barn with a wood barn to create a treat for the eyes.
The combination of stone bricks and wooden blocks is a great one to look at.
The design is thoughtful and pleasant. It’s also an incredibly useful and spacious structure for your horses and other animals to reside in.
Erecting this elegant barn is fairly simple if you have a little bit of building experience in Minecraft.
24 – Barn with Horse Stable

This Minecraft barn idea may not look large, but it offers plenty of space inside as well as outside, within its fence gates.
It has sections dedicated to rear animals and even has enough space to include a farm.
Moreover, its interiors include multiple crafting stations, which makes it a pretty good barn to own in Survival.
In the video tutorial by the original creator ExecutiveTree, you can see that this animal barn has enough room to place a Nether portal as well.
In order to build its exteriors, you only need a few stacks of stripped oak logs and spruce blocks.
25 – Ultimate Minecraft Barn

The “ultimate Minecraft barn” by A1MOSTADDICTED unfortunately does not have the ultimate tutorial on how to build this magnificent housing for your animals.
Thankfully, some enterprising players have taken pains to carefully watch the slightly confusing video and list down (in the YouTube user comments) all the materials you will need to craft the structure.
This barn can accommodate everything you need such an area to keep animals, underground farming plots and more. It’s got great aesthetics and ample storage room.
Depending on your building skills, you will need to invest hours (or probably, days) into this one.
26 – Barn with Stable

Would you like to try your hand at a simple, yet sprawling animal barn in Survival?
Take a look at this Minecraft barn design idea by Reimiho on YouTube. It has a large barn for your livestock, a storage area for cattlefeed and a stable for your horses.
There’s even a large pond that you could perhaps use to refill the troughs.
A wood and stone archway marks the entrance to the barn and the entire area is fenced off to keep mobs away.
27 – Cow Barn

This animal barn is called a cow barn not just because it’s meant to hold cows, but also because its structure includes a large cow banner towering over it.
Created by TSMC – Minecraft, the cow barn has a large storage space.
The barn is divided into two areas. While one is dedicated to indoor cows, the other is meant for rearing multiple animals outdoors.
It’s one of those peculiar Minecraft stable ideas that I love to check out for inspo.
28 – Animal Barn

Another one of the many really interesting Minecraft barn designs that I’d like to point you towards is this animal barn from creator ItsMarloe.
The whole deal of this build is to eliminate pens and allow your animals to roam freely within it and outside it.
One can expect such a build to require a lot of planning. So go ahead and check out the video tutorial.
Try creating this animal house in survival mode if you’re up to the challenge.
29 – Spruce Barn

How about a spruce barn complete with spruce planks and spruce trapdoors?
It certainly makes for a nifty animal barn that you can easily build in your game.
The spruce barn build includes six animal pens including a pigpen, a sheep farm, a horse stable, a cow farm, a chicken coup, and even a rabbit pen.
It involves a lot of building. So keep a few hours aside for this build by TheMythicalSausage.
30 – Survival Barn with Silo

This animal barn with a silo on the side, is meant to serve all your Survival needs and can be built right at the start as it doesn’t require any fancy materials for its construction.
YouTuber Fedo has made sure to give detailed instructions about this build to make it easy for you to follow.
It’s a neat structure with enough space for your different animals to be reared and also plenty of storage for your stuff.
31 – Experimental Barn

TheMythicalSausage’s new barn experiment is also a brilliant build to try out.
It’s a grand structure that can still be built in Survival and only has an entrance through its windows to keep the monsters from getting in.
The structure includes storage in the middle so that you can put away stuff for keeps. It’s got really peculiar interiors and its roof is made of crossbeams.
32 – Perfect Barn

This design by Greg Builds is only called perfect because it’s a no-nonsense barn that features a minimalist aesthetic and yet cannot be mistaken for anything but a place to house your animals in Minecraft.
It’s a vanilla barn that doesn’t require you to put much effort into building it or into finding the materials needed to create it.
At the same time, it’s a tall, imposing and airy structure. This means that even though you have to gather commonly available blocks like stone and wood, you’ll still have to collect tonnes of supplies.
Go for this one if you wish to quickly build a barn in the game.
Frequently Asked Questions
Pick Survival Or Creative Mode For Building In Minecraft?
Minecraft offers two main modes – Survival and Creative. Survival requires players to acquire resources while building and fighting off monsters.
As for Creative, this mode gives players access to unlimited resources and even gives them the power of flight. Thus, creating big structures is much easier in the Creative mode.
However, it’s just not as fun and challenging as it is to build them in Survival. The mode in which you choose to build your farm structure depends on your skill level.
How To Build A Barn In Minecraft?
Before diving into the details of all the awesome Minecraft barn ideas listed above, here’s the most simple way in which you can build one.
First, find a space of 12 x 14 blocks and use spruce for the corners and extend them to six blocks. You can then make use of stripped birch wood to create the barn walls and raise them to the exact height of the corner logs.
Then, extend all the spruce logs and join them through a dark oak wood plank. Spruce trapdoors can be used for the front and back walls.
Similar to the way you created the base, you can build a second floor and then place dark oak wood plank blocks to create the roof.
For the roof’s head, make use of dark oak slabs and cover the top using the same wood blocks.
For making a window, use a 3 x 2 gap at both the front and back. That’s the basic structure of the barn.
But it’s really up to your creativity how it will finally turn out. You can employ different blocks, for starters.
If you’d like a separate section or two, you can add those too. The possibilities are endless.
How To Make A Barn Door In Minecraft?
When making a barn in Minecraft, you can create a door using dark oak wood planks. You can keep its height as four blocks.
Extend all the spruce logs on the barn to one block and join them through a dark oak wood plank.
What other structures can be built in Minecraft?
A barn is just one structure you can make in-game. But Minecraft puts no limits on what you can build in it.
It’s basically a canvas that allows you to give flight to your imagination. Sharing blueprints of amazing Minecraft castles is very common in the community, and the same goes for those cool house ideas for Minecraft.
Wrapping up
That wraps up this long list of barn builds for Minecraft. I’ve included all kinds of different barns so players of any skill level can find something that suits their style.
Video tutorials play a really important part in how well your own builds turn out.
And once you become an expert at creating such structures, you’ll be ready to come up with your own unique barns as well.
